Hello everyone!
I'm really happy today, and I'd like to draw your attention on something new here : Thracian
Princess, by Bistra Johnson.

I've read the book and am seeking other readers who might want to share an opinion about it.
Reading this historic novel was quite pleasant: it is well written and presented; the research around the facts and themes is impressive! This book was definitely
written by an expert of the Antiquity.
However, the first fifty pages are bit startling: the author seems to neglect the emotional part of storytelling. I wish there had been a clear presentation of
Veronica's parents, for example, with more indications about their characterization. Sometimes, the narration is so devoid of emotion, like a mere report of events taking place... Also more
descriptions of old Thracian landscapes even if it is understandable that a fan of history would feel reluctant at using fictive descriptions to counter the lack of reliable testimonies from the
past. Curiously, the reader is left without a clear explanation about this travel in time, whereas a number of interesting options could have added some more thrill to the plot.
In conclusion, this book is clearly for fans of history and civilization. It is obvious that, had the author wished to deal seriously with the emotions of the
characters, Thracian Princess would be the size of Ken Folett's Pillars of the Earth. It is a very good reading time anyway.
